A Tree Skirt You Can Use All Year

You want to know what really grinds my gears?  Spending money on things that are only used for a short time… That’s why I hate grocery shopping, buying tampons, and overpriced holiday decorations.  And, if you’re anything like me, you are the kind of person that finds themselves shopping for holiday decorations a few weeks before the holiday, which makes things even more expensive.  You think I would learn to do my decoration shopping the week after the holiday has passed, but I am not perfect and I am also impulsive.

Like I said before, I am not perfect and my life is not perfect, which means that my disposable income is also just that… not perfect.  That makes saving money on things really important for me as a student and professional.  Most of the time, this is a really fun way to live.  Mostly because coupons are exciting to me and saving money has become a kind of game for me.  The more money I save on things I need (and often things that I don’t need), the better I feel.

So, how awesome is it to find something that can be repurposed or has multiple uses?  The answer is really awesome.  This tree skirt is actually a throw blanket that I found at TJ Maxx for less than $20, and as soon as the holidays are over, this tree skirt is going to be a nice addition to my couch or bed.

Yep, you read that correctly – $16.99!

It’s actually a pretty large blanket.  I can’t believe I found one this size for this price, let alone one that matches the colors in mine and Dan’s apartment.

It’s a really soft material that I know will make a great blanket once it’s done being used under the tree.  After the holidays, we’re doing a bit of an update to our room with some deep greens, beiges, and light pinks, so I am thinking that it will make a nice addition to our room – probably at the end of our bed.

And look how adorable it looks underneath our slim Christmas tree!  I am so excited that we were able to find something like this!

Most tree skirts that I’ve found this year have been upwards of $50 each, which makes it really hard for people trying to save a few bucks.  So, why not knock out two birds with one stone and use a blanket as a tree skirt?  What does everyone think?
